再一次，The West Wing用了两集的篇幅讲述同一个故事。
虽然，编剧们给这两集的故事标题是Inauguration（就职典礼），但实际上最主要的故事却是Equatorial Khundu Genocide。
既然我这篇日志是剧评，那么还是要交代下故事情节。
Equatorial Kundu发生暴乱，军队对国内的另外一个种族Induye发动了大屠杀。
而这起事件在白宫也引发了轩然大波，总统是否应该干预，如何干预都让国会山庄和国务院非常紧张。
毕竟这关系着巴特勒总统下一个四年任期的外交政策走向。
其实所有人都能看得出来，这两集故事隐射的是1994年发生在卢旺达的种族大屠杀。
1994年4月6日，由于卢旺达总统专机坠毁，图西族与胡图族的冲突也不可避免地爆发了。
在仅仅的100天内，100万人被屠杀，其中大部分为图西族人，同时有200万人流离失所。
堪称二战之后，地球上最恐怖的一次大屠杀行动。
我们继续来说故事。
在本集中，美国国务卿先生说了句很有趣的话。
You know the difference? Republicans want a huge military but they don’t want to send it anywhere. The Democrats wants a small military and they want to send it everywhere.
这也算是两党的区别之处吧。
虽然巴特勒总统很像去援助人道危机，但是一直在犹豫。
在新任讲稿撰写人Will的一句话点醒下，总统最终决定出兵。
“Why is a Khundunese life worth less to me than an American life?”
Will在故事的最后也被任命为白宫公关处副主任及总特特别助理。
同时巴特勒总统也就他执政的外交政策提出了最终阐述。
We’re for freedom of speech everywhere. We’re for freedom to worship everywhere. We’re for freedom to learn… for everybody. And because, in our time, you can build a bomb in your country and bring it to my country, what goes on in you country is very much my business. And so we are for freedom from tyranny everywhere, whether in the guise of political oppresion, Toby, or economic slavery, Josh, or religious fanaticism, CJ That most fundamental idea cannot be met with merely our support. It has to be met with our strength. Diplomatically, economically, materially. And if pharoah still don’t free the slaves, then he gets the plagues, or my cavalry, whichever gets there first. 请注意其中标红的话，译成中文就是“发生人道危机之地即美国干预之处”。
于是想起了1998年发生在印尼的事情。
最终为我们兄弟姐妹提供直接援助的国家和地区是新加坡、中国台湾和美国。
我不满的是，为什么美国仅仅将这起事件定义成Racism（种族歧视）而非Genocide（种族灭绝）。
或许正如记者反诘茜洁的那句话”How many acts of genocide constitute a genocide?”
